violence only begets more violence. I would suggest that you just tell him that you feel sorry for him and if he needs you that you will be there for him. I find that if you act the total 100 percent opposite than what people want it confuses and messes with their obvious hating demeanor. It works. maybe you should try it. after all it is just petty and not really worth the time.
