How do kangaroos give birth?

When the kangaroo gives birth, the baby actually crawls out, rather than being pushed out like a placental mammal. Though very poorly developed, the little guy has surprisingly strong forearms. Led by the scent of mommy's pouch, the baby laboriously crawls through the fur and enters the pouch. After that, the baby clamps onto a nipple and starts nursing until it becomes a proper joey.
