What are some examples from the Great Gatsby of Nick Carrway being a realist, honest, or determined?

I guess you can refer to Nick as honest when he declines Gatsby's "business" offer, and when he is genuinely freaked out by Gatsby's ociates. Nick questions Gatsby's past as everyone gossips about where he is from, and how he became wealthy, but doesn't pay as much attention to it as the rest of the population.Although, Nick does know about Daisy's affair with Gatsby, and Tom's affair, but does nothing about either. I guess he is a realist as well, noting that many people in society use wealth to cover up the fact they are not happy, or using it as a way to achieve false happiness.
