What do you think I should do?

I'm currently in the market for some real estate. Im 27 years old, and I currently own another home. I want to have some land in the woods, more preferably land on a lake. I am however considering a few things: I want basic water, I was thinking well water? I am thinking basic electricity, just so I can run a few lights and maybe a t.v. and a radio. I am trying to make this land/property as self sufficient as possible. I am torn between maybe getting a lake camp up in New Hampshire, but I am curious to know if it would be cheaper to build a cabin perhaps? I am hoping to plan to retire, and when I do I want to retire to this house. Another concern I have is If I live here all year when I retire, will a fireplace be enough to keep the house warm? So Im thinking a lake camp in New Hampshire, while more expensive, will be the better bet for me. Im looking to spend less, but I need to see and start looking at lake property, I cannot find any houses or websites to help me. If anyone could point me in the general direction, It would be appreciated.
