Are guys as straightforward as they tell us?

I met this guy and we talked alot then went out on two dates. For the first week or so he was always sending msgs acting very interested etc. Then the past week he hasnt done any that kind of stuff but said he wants to give the realtionship a chance.....why would he suddenly act more distant? should i worry??
